Yoshinoya: Beef Ramen

いらっしゃいませ!

Beef Ramen
Irasshaimaise! is a formal way of saying welcome to our store in Japanese. Yoshinoya being a japanese fast-food chain, you can hear this here a lot. The crew is very attentive and as soon as someone enters, they cheerfully greet.

I am not the type of person to be satisfied with noodle/pasta dishes. I always feel hungry afterwards. So Carla and I ordered Beef Ramen and the Beef and Chicken combo plate. I forgot what the rice meal was called so I'll say it's a combo meal, meant for sharing.

Tous Les Jours: Rose Cream Cake

We celebrated my sister's 16th Birthday a few days ago. I think of this as a fateful event. Fateful not only because it's her birthday but also because we met someone we didn't think we would.

Kuya Arnold, who I thought was at BGC. We saw him at White Hat, he was sitting there and browsing with his phone. We were a bit hesitant to approach him but I'm thankful we did.

Since it's her day, my sister decided to eat at Shakey's. I felt that no birthday is complete without cake. So there I was, a stage "ate" who bought cake at her favorite store, Tous Les Jours.

I buy at Tous Les Jours a lot. The cake designs really get my attention. Rather than a boring cake with dedications, I always opt for something that can stand for itself without needing words to say it.

Dunkin Donuts: Red Velvet Munchkins

Red velvet is in the hype. Everything from cakes, cookies, cupcakes, crinkles, frappes all come in this red velvety flavor. It's really not such a surprise to stumble upon Dunkin Donuts newest creation, red velvet munchkins in honney dip.

Like all things new, I just had to give it a try.

What's in the bag?

Red velvet munchkins along with my all time favorite, strawberry filled.

As I grumble almost irritably at the long lines here at the bank, I can't help but think what kind of a reaction this little thing might get out of me. I'm almost tempted to eat it.

Alas after an hour or so, I get to taste this treat. It was a disappointment.

Red velvet munchkins my a**. It tastes like plain old munchkins. Can you call something red velvet just because it's red?

It's delicious for a munchkin but it's nothing like red velvet.

10 Most Useful Food Hacks

There are a lot, i mean A LOT of food hacks out there. But these, in my opinion, are the most useful food hacks.  I arranged them in no particular order.

The quest for the best food hacks begin.

1. Grill fish on lemon slices to prevent it from sticking to the grill and add some extra flavor

via buzzfeed.com
 2. Bananas instead of eggs

via theberry.com
 3. Use a sharp knife for easier ice cream sandwiches

4. Keep your cookies soft for longer, throw a slice of bread into the container

California Pizza Kitchen

Summer makes a person think of the beach and the sun. The beach and the sun makes a person think of California.

Today's foodventure is in California, not the state but the kitchen.

California Pizza Kitchen beat iHop by a bit, we decided to eat here since it was about late lunch and iHop had the breakfast feels.

I ordered the Mozzarella Sticks for starters. It was appetizing, the cheese was perfectly melted and the bread crisp. But the pizza sauce could've tasted better if it was heated. It clearly felt like it was right out of the fridge.

Erwin chose the Carbonara as our pasta dish. I like my pasta with a creamier taste so this was just okay for me. The green peas are a first though, maybe because I'm not such a vegan.

Food Playlist

Food and Music.

You'd never go wrong with this two. There are a lot, i mean A LOT of food inspired songs out there that the results are dizzying. So I made a food inspired playlist with songs that were made in my generation, mostly created in the 2000s.

The first three was from the film, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs which I definitely loved. I just had to add Cody Simpson's La Da Dee because it was very fun and catchy.

Faber Drive's Candy Store really fits my blog theme at the moment. Such sweet tooth nonsense, this is my current favorite in my food playlist.

Bring in the pop with Beyonce's Candy Man and Kelis' Milkshake.

DIY: Lemonade

Lemonade. Who doesn't love it?

I love lemonade so much that I've been craving it for the past few days.

They say that need is the mother of invention. Well in my case, my need for lemonade led me to make it on my own.

I don't go out much during vacation. Really. I consider my self a homebody so I have to make-do with what I have.

ONE GLASS LEMONADE
Makes: 1 glass
Prep Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 5 mins

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
Hot water
1 lemon, squeezed
Cold water
Ice

Step 1: Squeeze the Lemon
I used one lemon because I only had one. Unfortunately for me, my mom used the other one a few days ago. But if I had a choice, I would've used 1 1/2 lemon to make about 3 tablespoons of lemon juice.

Step 2: Melt the Sugar
Melt the sugar in hot water. Make sure to stir until it dissolves. If you want your lemonade to stay true to the original recipe's color, use white sugar instead of brown. Use 2 tbsps. white sugar for a sweeter taste.

Step 3: Add Lemon Juice to Sugar
Add the lemon juice to the sugar and stir.
For a more lemonade-y feel, I also added the pulps.

Step 4: Add Cold Water and Ice

Enjoy!
